For patients with no previous medical history of abnormal results, I recommend a routine check-up with a cervical screening test (smear test) every two years. I check any findings myself. In the event of an abnormal result of the smear test, I contact the patient personally to decide together on the next steps to be taken. Patients are not notified of normal results. Two years after your routine check-up, we will contact you about another appointment.

We are fully conversant with all modern methods of contraception, enabling us to find the best solution for you. If you wish to adopt a natural contraceptive method, we will refer you to a specially trained external advisor, since this requires a little more time to consider.

Teenager consultations

The healthy development of an adolescent woman is very important to me. In my consultations, I provide pubescent girls and – at a later stage –young women with sympathetic advice. If any specific problems are identified, I refer my young patient to a specialist adolescent gynaecologist.

Pregnancy and birth care

For me, being able to provide care to women during pregnancy up to and including the time of birth is always something very special that gives me great joy. I am a highly experienced gynaecologist, having guided several thousand women through their own individual experience of childbirth. Working together with a midwife, I will help you acquire the fortitude, self-confidence and motivation to enjoy as anxiety-free and natural a birth as possible.

Menopausal care

This occasionally fraught and therefore difficult period in a woman’s life matters deeply to me. Sometimes, a good conversation can help more than a hasty hormone replacement therapy. That said, it is a good idea to consult a medical practitioner in cases of excessive hair loss or where hot flushes are causing sleep problems.

Follow-up care after illness

Some of our patients have had to go through the experience of having cancer. Here, optimum initial treatment is decisive. Afterwards, we make sure the patient continues to be monitored and cared for. Holistic care requires an interdisciplinary approach, which means that I collaborate with my colleagues at Hirslanden Klinik Linde in Biel in order to provide the best possible chances of treatment being effective in the long term.

In gynaecology, there are three types of ultrasound examinations: pregnancy ultrasound scans to examine the unborn baby; vaginal ultrasound scans to examine the uterus and ovaries; and breast ultrasound scans. As I have been very interested in this diagnostic technique ever since my student days, I now have an extremely well-trained eye as well as the very latest ultrasound equipment to support me in my diagnoses.

Urogynaecology and incontinence

A prolapsed uterus or involuntary urine loss can be very distressing to women. Fortunately, I can help a great deal with problems of this kind by carrying out relatively minor surgery. It goes without saying that a precise diagnosis and a detailed explanation of the operation beforehand are part of my meticulous approach to my work.

Gynaecological surgery

Treating women’s health problems with appropriate surgery are my speciality. Every week, I spend one or two days in the operating theatre at Hirslanden
Klinik Linde in Biel. Operations I carry out regularly include the following:

  • Caesarean sections
  • Surgery to treat breast cancer
  • Uterine surgery
  • Surgery to treat ovarian disorders, ectopic pregnancy or endometriosis
  • Surgical procedures to treat complaints caused by a uterine prolapse or urinary incontinence
  • Laser therapy (e.g. in cervical conditions)
  • Labial reduction
My main area of expertise is minimally invasive surgery, which involves making only very small incisions in the skin and using a tiny camera
(endoscopy). This technique reduces the risks of the operation and post-operative recovery time.
